Maximizing Profits From Article Marketing

By Brendan Wilson

Article Marketing has arisen in recent times as the preferred method of marketing online. Since the costs of PPC (Pay Per Click) marketing have become prohibitive and search engines have become increasingly sophisticated article marketing has evolved as the most effective method to deliver the necessary targeted traffic to ensure that you have a successful online business.

For many successful websites article marketing has become the primary method of getting quality traffic to a website. Articles are also a major factor in contributing to high search engine rankings. The better a site ranks the larger the slice of the overall traffic pie they get. With a larger targeted traffic flow, there are simply more buyers and therefore more profits can be generated and more streams of income can be opened up.

But, it is not just about filling your site with articles. There are also certain requirements to be considered. These requirements must be included to get the maximum benefits for your web site. A well written article will catch the attention of readers and turn them into paying clients. They could also recommend your site to their friends through the many social media web sites.

Below are some of the key elements you need to be aware of to create your own successful article marketing campaign. If you keep these points in mind it will go a long way to ensuring you are delivering quality traffic to your website for years to come.

Do Your Keyword Research

Each article needs to be based on a small number of keywords or phrases. Each visitor to your website is usually looking for specific information, within well defined parameters. It makes sense therefore to pitch your main idea based on well defined parameters. There are many internet based keyword research tools, some free and some are commercial services. You can use these to determine what the most popular search terms are for your particular market niche.

The key thing to remember is that the keywords in your articles are related to the general theme of your web site. For example, if your web site is about health and well being it would make sense that you include articles about medical issues and weight loss, so you would script your articles to be based around keywords relevant to these topics. Be specific and avoid generalizing or trying to cover too broad a topic.

Keyword Density

One of the most important factors in article writing is keyword density. Keyword density is simply the number of times your keywords appear in the context of your article, so the number that they appear will depend on the length of the article. A percentage of 4-5% keyword density is what is currently recommended though some suggest a percentage as low as 2%. Do not be tempted to try and fill your article with keywords as this will simply result in your article being ignored by the search engine index.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used in an article. The percentage will vary according to the number of keywords used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a too higher density, the meaning of the article is lost and may put off a reader as well as the search engines.

Quality Content

Don't be tempted to over do the keyword density in your article. To much of a good thing can get your articles ignored by the search engine for being spam. Try and keep your articles informative and compelling so that people take the time to read it all. A well written article does wonders for your credibility and to help establish yourself as an authority on your particular niche market.

If you can quote facts and statistics this can also help to add credibility to your argument as well as adding authority to your opinion. By establishing yourself as an authority it also greatly enhances the chance of someone buying your products or services. Remember that there is always going to be an initial lack of trust when visitors read your articles and by providing information for free, that initial lack of trust may be easier to overcome.

Links In Your Article Resource Box

One of the primary motivations for article marketing is to get so called "back links" or links that return to your web site. Back links not only give you are direct source of targeted traffic but also help in the longer term to enhance your search engine ranking as the search engine ranking gives weight to the number of sites that link back to your web site.
