Getting Traffic, My Way

By Carrie Spry

Being positive is difficult if you've been scammed so many times, you don't want to count. I've tried pay per click, I was a little successful, until I changed something, and then I lost my shirt. There are companies out there that will pay more than $10 for one click. I just can't justify that, sorry.

You could join forums and place a link in your signature, I tried that. But for the small amount of info and the huge waste of time, well, let's just say it's not worth it. I have better things to do than search around forums and give little tid bits of information.

Now, if the heavenly search engines would just rank me number one for my keywords, I would be laying on a beach in hot weather with not a care in my mind. Let's just hope that is my future. Then I can claim to be one of those gurus. For now I will settle for being where I am, still honest.

Anyways, let's get back to traffic. As far as I'm concerned, forums are a waste of time and pay per click is a waste of money. Blogging can work, but unless you've got a ton of traffic to your blog, it's kind of a waste of time. Press releases may also work, but what they won't tell you that most sites actually charge you to put out a press release, or you pay for membership.

Then there's social bookmarking. I still haven't quite figured this one out. Isn't it suppose to be others who bookmark you that make you popular, that can't happen if you don't have those people visiting you. Then there is MySpace or Facebook. Well you can tell you friends and family, but chances are they already know.

From experience, the fastest, cheapest way of getting good traffic is through article marketing. That's where you write an article like this and send to it out to various sites. If you write good articles, you can get hundreds and sometimes thousands of visitors per day, in less than one month. Of course it depends on the sites you submit to and how many articles you write.

One of the most popular article marketing sites is Ezine Articles. They also have some of the highest standards. You do want good articles though. So submit to them first, once it gets accepted, you can submit that article to other sites.

You can get some free submitters that will submit your article to a number of directories. Usually, if it's free it is some kind of software that runs on your computer. The up side is that it's free and it can help to automate the submission process which makes less work for you.

The down side, usually only submits to about 100 sites, which are all article directories, that have no specific topic. These sites tend not to rank high since they cover such a broad array of categories. Plus, you will have the same article circulating on all these sites, Google is not a big fan of that.
