Advice And Guidance For New Illustrators

The most effective way to visually articulate a story or article is by using some type of illustration. This can be seen In main stream media everywhere, including the internet, T.V and publications. There really are no limit to the types of mediums that can be used to create illustrations. The artists who are responsible for this tend to specialise in a particular niche and style, using a particular or favourite medium, like painting, drawing or digital pens.

In order for an illustration to qualify, I needs to be able to complement the information given, or expound on it. Many journalists or copywriters are responsible for the textual information, but the creative artist is responsible for the illustration. Good examples of this can be found in greeting cards, billboard ads, stationary, magazines, books, posters and practically any other type of commercial project. Children's books are very popular in the world of illustration.

While many of the older, more experienced illustrators still use traditional methods to produce there work, younger artists tend you use digital methods, which can, if used properly, be more efficient and create a much easier work flow.

Illustrators can receive hands on training from work experience, or study at universities or colleges. Many artists did not actually receive any formal training, but learned to develop there skills as a hobby.

There are a huge number of universities, art schools and colleges that can provide degree programs of various types in illustration, visual communication, fine art and animation. Students will be required to create stunning portfolios, showcasing their best work.

Many aspiring illustrators complete intern-ships for direct hands on experience and knowledge of the industry, while also being able to boost there portfolios.

Thousands of websites are being added to the internet everyday, and a large number of them rely heavily on illustration of some sort. This is where many illustrators capitalise on work opportunities, by producing banners, introductions and other types of imagery.
